Like you, we had hoped that this action would not be necessary, but in line with government advice to “stop non-essential contact with others and non-essential travel, start working from home and avoid social venues”, we feel we have no choice but to cancel the SILVA Great Lakeland 3Day™ that was due to be held 8-10th May 2020.

We're excited to reveal where the SILVA Great Lakeland 3Day will be heading this year. As ever only the Event Centre will be revealed in advance, leaving the overnight camp(s) a closely-guarded secret until you arrive to register come event weekend! So where is it? SILVA Great Lakeland 3Day™ 2019 certainly delivered with more excellent Café, Wainwright and Expert courses exploring the fells around Ullswater and Helvellyn, a lovely overnight camp near Patterdale, a super atmosphere with many friends old and new, and finally some fantastic running conditions despite the slightly chilly nights.

Ourea Events races are located in Britain’s most striking upland areas that typically contain features of outstanding biodiversity conservation value and importance. Occasionally, the features that provide this interest can be vulnerable to the wear and tear that may result from the passage of event participants. The risk of ecological damage is carefully assessed during early stages in the planning process for each event, when every effort is made to avoid sensitive ecological interest areas that could be disturbed by the event.

The 20th anniversary of the SILVA Great Lakeland 3Day™ certainly delivered with three days of perfect weather, fantastic mountain courses for all, and such a warm and welcoming atmosphere at one of the most amazing Overnight Camps we have ever had.

This Ecological Briefing Note has been prepared for the 2018 GL3D event to identify key ecological interest features that contribute to the special character of the event area, with route selection comments to help minimise the risk of localized ecological disturbance.

We're delighted to reveal the location of the 20th Anniversary SILVA Great Lakeland 3Day™ event centre! Excitingly, we've also secured an absolute gem of an overnight camp - we think you'll love it - and the courses are looking just great: Cafés/pubs for the Café course are very strategically placed, there are Wainwrights galore (and some bonus ones to pick off) for the Wainwright course, and the Expert course journey covers extensive ground.
